The 8 Limbs of Yoga: 6. Dharana: Training the Mind to Stay
Once we can turn inward, we can begin Dharana, the practice of concentration. This is the moment where we choose a single point of focus—our breath, a mantra, a candle flame—and gently direct the mind back each time it wanders.
Dharana isn’t about forcing the mind into submission; it’s about building the capacity to stay. Over time, this steadiness becomes the foundation for mental clarity, emotional resilience, and a deeper relationship with ourselves. It’s the beginning of true presence.
