Creating a Personalized Regulation Toolkit

No single practice works for everyone. You need a menu of possibilities so that on any given day, you can choose what matches your state and needs.

One of the greatest parts about what I do as a nervous system regulation guide is helping clients create a personalized regulation toolkit. Knowing you have tools - a variety of tools for various settings - means you can do the challenging part: move yourself strategically beyond your comfort levels so that you can start to practice expanding beyond your conditioning.

Your toolkit might include:

  • Breath practices

  • Grounding touch

  • Touching objects that feel safe and good (crystals, stuffies etc.)

  • Movement or shaking

  • Particular yoga poses

  • Quiet spaces

  • Moving Meditation

  • Mindfullness Meditation

  • Journaling

  • Music

  • Chanting

  • Singing

  • Supportive people

  • Nature

  • Rest

Your nervous system isn’t a problem to solve—it’s a relationship to nurture. When you build a toolkit that supports you, regulation becomes less about “fixing” and more about honoring what your body is asking for.
